Carlos Santana was in New York City Saturday night for the premiere of Carlos, a documentary on his life and career, that was screened at the Tribeca Festival.
Santana took the stage at the Beacon Theatre to introduce the film, saying being there made him feel like he "had been hanging around Jerry Garcia again and taking some acid."
Following the screening, Carlos and the Santana band did a short set, concentrating on career milestones such as "Evil Ways," "Jingo," “Oye Como Va,” “Maria Maria,” “Black Magic Woman,” "Europa" and “Smooth.”
The film, which charts Santana's life from Mexico to San Francisco to Woodstock; his family relations; his early and late success with the ups and downs in between; will be out in the fall.
