B.T.O. is Back in Business!

With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the formation of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, 1973, Randy Bachman has announced that BTO has reformed for the Back in Overdrive tour.

"After a very long time Bachman-Turner Overdrive/BTO is back on the rock and roll highway and kicking it into OVERDRIVE! Full tilt, pedal to the metal rock and roll is back to melt your face and rock your soul.”

He hasn't said who will be joining him, but one has to assume that Fred Turner will be along for the ride.

Bachman's two brothers who were in the band with him -- Robbie and Tim -- both died this year.

Robbie continued the band after Randy left, and Tim was fired for violating Randy's strict rules about drugs and alcohol and was replaced by Blair Thornton who remained with the band, along with Turner and Robbie, until they broke up in 2005.

Randy and Fred reunited as Bachman-Turner in 2009 for an album and tour. They also released a live album.

In 2018, Turner announced his retirement.

They've announced two shows -- August 18th in Arnold's Park, Iowa and September 22nd in West Springfield, Massachusetts with more to come.

Earlier this year Bachman told us that there are a few BTO projects in the works, including the release of a film made about them in 1976 -- a good amount of which has never been seen.

Bachman adds that Eddie Kramer, known for his work with Jimi HendrixLed Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, may mix it with him. And also in the works are remastered vinyl versions of their first few albums.

There are no release dates yet, but Bachman says we'll see things in 2024 and '25, including the documentary on his reunion last year with his his 1957 Gretsch guitar that was stolen from a Toronto hotel in 1976
