The Beach Boys have take a page out of The Beatles' Anthology book by telling their own story.
The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys is told through new interviews with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston, along with archival interviews with the late Dennis and Carl Wilson.
The book details their beginning through their 1980 Independence Day concert on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
There are also comments from some of those they influenced, including Lindsey Buckingham, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Ray Davies, Bob Dylan, Def Leppard, David Lee Roth, Roger McGuinn, Graham Nash, Jimmy Page, Carly Simon and Pete Townshend.
And rounding it out are photos from their personal archives along with photos of lyric sheets, chord sheets, performance photos, handwritten notes, studio documents, tape boxes, tour posters, and much more.
It will be out next year, but a deluxe version will be available in December. Limited to just over 400 copies, it's 400 pages are woven from 100% recycled plastic gathered from oceans and coastline and autographed by Wilson, Love, Jardine and Johnston.
