Roger Waters is full-speed-ahead on his upcoming solo release of one of rock’s greatest album’s, Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side Of The Moon.” And while he openly acknowledges the magic the band made the first time around, he discusses the need for a re-do.
“I’m immensely proud of what we have created,” admitted Waters. “(We) were so young when we made it, and when you look around us, clearly the message hasn’t stuck. That’s why I started to consider what the wisdom of an 80-year-old could bring to a re-imagined version.”
Ahead of the October 6th release of his solo version, he’s dropped the second single- the iconic song “Time.” This is the second song Waters has unveiled from the upcoming album, following last month’s “Money.”

Fifty-four years and a day after Neil Armstrong became the first man to step foot on the moon, Roger Waters has announced the details of his re-recording of Pink Floyd's landmark album, 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon.
Titled The Dark Side of the Moon Redux, he says the album needed a "re-imagining."
The album’s lead single, "Money" is out today with an accompanying lyric video. It's pretty much a spoken word version that's three minutes longer with additional lyrics.
In addition to re-imagining each of The Dark Side of the Moon’s original 10 tracks – which, like the original, run seamlessly together -- The Dark Side of the Moon Redux LP format will feature a bonus 13-minute original composition inspired by the re-recording as a final track. It's titled "Original Composition."
Waters goes on to say, “The original Dark Side of the Moon feels in some ways like the lament of an elder being on the human condition. But Dave (Gilmour), Rick (Wright), Nick (Mason) and I were so young when we made it, and when you look at the world around us, clearly the message hasn’t stuck. That’s why I started to consider what the wisdom of an 80-year-old could bring to a re-imagined version...
“I’m immensely proud of what we have created, a work that can sit proudly alongside the original, hand-in-hand across a half-century of time.”
The Dark Side of the Moon Redux will be out October 6th on CD and vinyl and digitally.
