When Rush were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, guitarist Alex Lifeson delivered one of the more memorable speeches in induction ceremony history.
Instead of reading his speech, he called an audible while walking to the stage.
And here are the last 28 seconds of that speech.
Shortly after, Geddy Lee told us, "I wish he would have warned us. We could have thought it was planned, as opposed to feeling like maybe he was losing his marbles," adding, "Our ideas are usually pretty goofy. It seems a shame to not share that goofiness with our fans, who have obviously come to love it.”
As it turns out, Lifeson recently said that Geddy and Neil Peart were actually upset with his decision.
In 2017, Lifeson returned to the Hall of Fame podium and read what he wrote as he and Geddy inducted Yes.
