Black Sabbath -- The Ballet premiered Saturday at the Hippodrome theatre in their hometown of Birmingham, England. Among those in attendance were Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, Sharon Osbourne, former Sabbath and Electric Light Orchestra drummer Bev Bevan, and Robert Plant.
The production features eight reinterpretations of Sabbath tracks alongside new music inspired by the band. The Sabbath songs are:
- "Paranoid"
- "Iron Man"
- "War Pigs"
- "Black Sabbath"
- "Solitude"
- "Orchid"
- "Laguna Sunrise"
- "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"
At the end of the show, Iommi, with his trademark Gibson SG, came out to play on "Paranoid," while the cast danced behind him.
And on Sunday, Iommi thanked everyone on social media. "We had a great premiere [Saturday] night. I’m honored to be involved with these talented dancers. [But] I’m afraid I won’t be joining every performance."
Black Sabbath - The Ballet runs through September 30th.
