The Kink's Mark 60 Years of "You Really Got Me"

The Kinks recorded their breakthrough song, "You Really Got Me," 60 years ago, in July 1964. It came out in their native England on August 4th, 1964, and in the U.S a month later on September 2nd.

To mark the milestone, they're re-issuing the song, backed with "It's All Right," as it was originally released on limited-edition seven-inch vinyl on August 16th through their official webstore and Rough Trade stores.

It's a limited pressing of 1964 hand-numbered copies, with audio remastered in the original mono, and features the original 1964 Pye Records push-out center.

If you pre-order it from The Kinks’ official store, you will receive an exclusive seven-inch sized print with a special message from the band.

"You Really Got Me" topped the U.K. chart, and went to number-seven in the U.S.

UPDATE!!! We followed up with Dave Davies for an update on him getting back his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trophy from The Kinks’ 1990 induction, which was on sale last month on eBay.

His spokesperson tells us, "The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is contacting the seller to get it back for Dave! Fingers crossed."

The trophy was being sold by one of the former owners of Colony Records in New York, who had it in his collection. The asking price, before the sale was taken down, was $12,500.
