Foreigner will release a deluxe edition of their best-selling studio album, 1981's 4, in September.
Along the hits "Juke Box Hero," "Waiting on a Girl Like You" and "Urgent," it will come with an unfinished song from those sessions that Lou Gramm, the band's original singer, recently finished.
The band's current bassist Jeff Pilson tells Chile's Radio Futuro, "The song had one verse in it, and Lou had sung one verse and he sang the chorus. And it was great, but it was only one verse. He was mumbling the second verse. So we called Lou and said, 'What do you think about finishing and singing the song?' So he said, 'Absolutely.' He wrote and finished two verses and sang them. He added cowbell. And we now have a new, old Foreigner song... [It's] called 'Fool if You Love Him,' and it came out great."
4 was released on July 3rd 1981 and topped the Billboard 200 for 10 weeks. It has sold over seven-million copies worldwide.
This will be the second new Foreigner song with Gramm in just over a year. Last October saw the release of "Turning Back the Time" as part of the band's latest hits collection of the same name.
The song was recorded in 1996 but sat on the shelf until band founder Mick Jones and the song's co-writer and co-producer Marti Frederiksen added guitars. Jones also added keyboards with Frederiksen and his son Evan playing bass and drums respectively. Gramm’s vocals are from the original demo.
Foreigner will play Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, Oklahoma on October 3rd.
