It's been a whirlwind week for Steve Perry.
Friday night he didn't sing, but he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Journey.
And now everyone wants to know what's next?
Perry told ABC that he plans to release an emotional new solo album later this year. While it was inspired by a personal tragedy, Perry said making it has been "cathartic."
According to the interview Perry fell in love with someone, and then lost them to breast cancer.
He said, "In the midst of that, I had written some songs, and before I met her I had sketched some. And so about a year ago, I started recording."
"Basically the record is an emotional expression, and a reason to make one," he explained. "It's been a real cathartic experience going back to that emotional place that I thought I would never go back to. And we really have been doing our very best to capture what I think are some timeless songs."
No word on when the album will be released.
