Dickie Goodman was born on this day in 1934. Sadly Dickie passed away in 1989 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
He is best known for inventing and using the technique of the "break-in", an early precursor to sampling, that used brief clips of popular records and songs to "answer" comedic questions posed by voice actors on his novelty records.
AM Radio loved his songs and Dickie had a few Top 40 hits in the mid 1970's, in fact I HAD BOTH of these 45s.
Anyone remember "Energy Crisis '74?"
The following year Dickie released "Mr. Jaws" which became his biggest selling records.
