Dallas Stars Acquire Goaltender Ben Bishop

Huge news for Dallas Stars fans, as today the team took the first step toward addressing their goalie issues.

Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Ben Bishop from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Montreal's fourth-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft.

The Stars will have exclusive negotiating rights with Bishop until July 1, when he'll become an unrestricted free agent.

Bishop is considered an elite goaltender, a previous NHL All-Star and Vezina Trophy finalist

The guess is the Stars will most likely buy out Antti Niemi, and Kari Lehtonen will become Bishop's backup.

This isn't the first time Ben Bishop will play in North Texas. As an 18-year-old he started his career in Frisco with the Texas Tornado.

Here we are in 2005 when I interviewed him at the NAHL All-Star Game
