Tesla's Model X Gets First Perfect SUV Crash Rating

I've had my eye on Tesla for a while now....

Not only are their vehicles electric, they're also fast, and pretty damn sexy too.

Now there's another reason for the company to brag....

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just given the Tesla Model X SUV 5 stars in all of its crash-test categories and subcategories, including in the rollover rating, where SUVs typically fall short. The reason? Apparently the Model X has a low center of gravity, due to the weight of its battery pack and its location under the floor.

Though the Model X is the first SUV to get top crash test scores, it is not highly rated overall by Consumer Reports due to its poor reliability ratings, and the fact that the price ranges from $81,300 to $134,300. OUCH!

Guess I'll just have to keep my eye on Tesla a while longer.. at least until the new more affordable Model 3 becomes available in 2018
