The Vaughan Brothers Art Project Now Scheduled For October
Last year the Dallas City Council gave a unanimous YES to the proposed artwork honoring Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan that will eventually reside in Kiest Park, just blocks from where the Vaughan Bros grew up in Oak Cliff. The piece was supposed to be ready by late Summer 2017.
Now according to a recent Facebook post it appears it has been delayed until October.
Spanish artist Casto Solano has been contracted to create the piece — four interconnected steel screens featuring photos of the brothers, as well as the lyrics to their 1990 song "Tick Tock." Solano began working on the piece in his studio in Spain last fall. The sculpture consists of four corten steel framed screens with images of Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan cut into the metal.
