Born on this day in 1950, Stephen Richard "Steve" Hackett, the English musician, songwriter, singer and producer, best known as the guitarist in Genesis from 1971 to 1977, becomes rock's newest member of the Septuagenarian Club. Hackett contributed to six Genesis studio albums, three live albums, seven singles and one EP before leaving to pursue a solo career. Watch below as Steve explains why he left the band.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010.
