Depending on who you ask, Robert Alan Deal (PKA Mick Mars) was either born on this day in 1951 or on April 4, 1955. For the sake of argument let's go with the prior so we can say he's the newest member of rock's Septuagenarian Club, Mick is the legendary lead guitarist for Motley Crüe. For most of his professional career, Mars has openly struggled with ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic, inflammatory form of arthritis that mainly affects the spine and pelvis. It was initially diagnosed when he was 17 and has increasingly impaired his movement and has caused him a great deal of pain. This led to hip replacement surgery at the end of 2004.
In his honor, YOU get to pick the Motley Crue song I play today at 3:50 pm with Classic Rock on Demand. VOTE HERE. (voting gets underway around 3:30 pm)
