Released on this day in 1994, Monster is the 9th studio album by R.E.M. Led by the successful single "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?", Monster debuted at number one in the United States and at least seven other countries. Four more singles were released from the album, including "Crush With Eyeliner," "Bang and Blame", "Strange Currencies", and "Tongue".
