On This Day In 1975 Queen Broke The Bank On 'A Night At The Opera'

Released on this day in 1975, A Night at the Opera is the fourth studio album by Queen. Produced by the band and Roy Thomas Baker, it was reportedly the most expensive album ever recorded at the time of its release. It cost the equivalent of $500,000 today to make in 1975. This could have something to do with the fact the band recorded in six studios across the U.K. Featuring the singles "Bohemian Rhapsody" (the band's first UK #1 single) and "You're My Best Friend," the album topped the UK Album Chart and peaked at number four on the US Chart, and became the band's first platinum-selling album in the US. The album has sold over 6 million copies worldwide.
