Born on this day in 1947, Jeffrey Lynne, the English songwriter, singer, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist, co-founder of Electric Light Orchestra and Jeff Lynne's ELO turns 78. Lynne also co-founded the supergroup Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty.

In 2014, Lynne reformed ELO and resumed concert touring, the same year he received a star on the Birmingham Walk of Stars in his home city. In 2015, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2017, Lynne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of ELO
